Albert Bierstadt’s painting Hetch Hetchy Canyon was the first gift to the Mount Holyoke College Art Museum at its founding. Since then the museum has acquired more than 16,000 objects from around the world, from ancient Egypt, China and Peru to contemporary America. Collection objects are displayed on a rotating basis, allowing students to have continual access to original works of art of the highest quality.
Featuring works of Asian art; 19th- and 20th-century European and American paintings and sculpture; Egyptian, Greek and Roman art; medieval sculpture; early Italian Renaissance paintings and an extensive collection of works on paper.
