(3 PDPs) How does one “read” a wordless picture book? How can wordless picture books help emergent readers who must learn to negotiate the printed word? How can pictures tell a story? In this workshop, we’ll explore how wordless picture books invite careful observation, critical thinking, and opportunities to make meaning out of what one sees and hears from others. The session will include a guided tour of the exhibit David Wiesner: The Art of Wordless Storytelling, an introduction to Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS), practice applying VTS to wordless picture books, and more. Instructor: David Feinstein
