Isaac Babel’s writings challenged the ideology of the early Soviet Union, resulting in his arrest and execution in 1940. On the 75th anniversary of Babel’s execution, Finding Babel follows his grandson, Andrei Malaev-Babel, as he journeys through Ukraine, France, and Russia, hoping to better understand Babel’s powerful artistic method and elusive persona.

The New England premiere. Director David Novack will be on hand to introduce the film and take audience questions.
